SHA2017

Today we announce another speaker: Axel Theilmann and his talk about the Hackeboy handheld game console! He is part of the small game label Hackefuffel from Hamburg. They love the 8-bit looks and feels of retro gaming and started building a system that was a combination of modern hardware and a proper old-school approach to the software. 

What's left to do with all those old hashing algorithms? Check for unintentional corruption? Nehhh... SHA-1 discoverd it was made for design. SHA-1 became the design guru of this camp!

"Off Grid" by Rich Metson and Pontus Schönberg is game different kind of hacking game. It was original meant to be centerend around data security. But it was grown to be an adventure, satire and stealth game. Its mishap antihero is oblivious to the city's prying and spying, corporate-sponsored government until a series of dark events unfold.

The Call for Participation has resulted in hundreds of proposals and Team:Content has been able to process a sufficient number of them to start working on the preliminary schedule. And for that purpose, we want to borrow your minds, or to be more precise: your preferences. On Halfnarp we have collected the accepted proposals

At a hacker camp like SHA2017, a lot of electrical power is used. Almost everybody brings laptops, pancake robots, arcades, enormous amounts of LED's, and so on, and so on... In this blog, we as team:power want to explain a bit more about what is involved in getting electrons in the right way to your tents.

We have two announcements: the SHA badge will go into production, and the Badge team will give a talk about developing this conference badge.

With this badge, we strive to achieve several firsts: the first badge for a Dutch hacker camp, one of the first badges featuring the ESP32, one of the first badges designed for use in bright sunlight, and the first badge to use a wireless distribution technique that won't upset the network admins!

When the ticket sales started, there were also t-shirts and hoodies for sale. But there were no further details about the look of this merchandise at that moment. Today, we're gonna resolve this, by presenting the apparel design from SHA2017!

Who owns this data?

Today we are presenting two accepted talks from Melanie Rieback: "Social Enterprises as a Tool for Activism" & "Adventures in Spearphishing: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

She will also introduce "phishing spam", or spear fishing with an open-source spear phishing toolkit. The story has a surprising ending and an ethical and philosophical twist.

This morning, like the previous weeks, we're announcing another accepted talk: "One map to map them all" by Erik Meerburg

Many of the places where disasters occur are literally 'missing' from any map.This is where Missing Map comes in. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which everybody can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people.
